Checkers

Checkers

Stop number one on the inaugural Fry Day on a Saturday trip. I will be honest here. I came into Checkers with a bit of bias.

I’ve had Checkers before. They are on the bottom of my list when it comes to fast food in general. Their saving grace for the fries is their seasoning, which admittedly is pretty darn good. I tend to be a little bit of a purist when it comes to fries and I don’t usually prefer heavy seasoning. However, there was something about the day we went. We got them fresh and warm. The fries surprisingly come out pretty good. I started to give them a low score, but if I’m being honest with myself, I was being unfair. Now, those fries did have flaws there is no denying that. In my opinion, they were over-seasoned and too salty. If you really like seasoned fries, then this won’t be a big issue for you. It was a little greasy. It had a strong crunch, which I always really like in fries. There were skinnier fries, so the amount of potato per bite isn’t quite what I would like. For me, this was a slightly above average fry, which was a surprise from Checkers. If you’re the type that likes seasoning, I would bump up this rating for you by a point or so.
